Welcome
Studio open: Monday - Wednesday
Workshops bookable: Monday-Saturday
Hidden within the wooded grounds of a country estate, the March Hare Pottery takes a little bit of finding. It's location in this wild and beautiful Borders valley though is exactly what gives it its wonderful charm! The peace here is disturbed only by a choir of birdsong. The red squirrels, bounding hares and bleating sheep make the perfect inspiration for ceramic sculptures. These as well as earthenware dishes and decorative hangings produced at the pottery are imprinted with plants and seeds foraged from the local surrounds. I am very happy to welcome visitors to see my work while I am at the studio. It will be open Monday to Wednesday most weeks of the year but It may be advisable to get in touch in advance if you are thinking of making a trip out. Workshops and taster sessions can also be booked (Monday to Saturday) by messaging me direct.
(Please note there is very little internet or phone reception at the studio - making it the perfect opportunity for retreat from busy everyday life!)
Introducing the March Potter
As hare spotter and potter at the March Hare pottery I moved into the idyllic surrounds of a restored Victorian Laundry in April 2023. I have been creating and potting for much of my life and have gained experience and skills from talented local potters including Borders ceramicist Marianne Finlayson and tutors at Edinburgh Design School. As well as making my own ceramics I love sharing the therapeutic qualities of working with clay. With many years of experience in community education, it is a delight to now be able to welcome groups and individuals to my own studio to discover the joy of creating.
